Books like Monday’s Not Coming,where we absolutely needed to keep reading to reach that epic twist, or books like Speak, that are so utterly powerful we couldn’t tear our eyes from the page. How can we be expected to put this book down? (spoiler alert: we couldn’t.) After following the main character’s harrowing trek through the wilderness and wondering page after page if she could possibly survive, it got us thinking about some other YA books that gave us a similar experience. Just from the opening line we’re already on edge:
Oh, just us? Okay.)īe Not Far From Me by Mindy McGinnis is one such book. You absolutely cannot look away from these (and maybe you miss your subway stop. Sometimes, there are books that captivate you from the very first moment, and keep you hanging on until the very last page.
